aPatoloji Kliniği, bDermatoloji Kliniği, Göztepe Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, İstanbul Clear cell acanthoma is a rare, solitary, slow-growing benign epithelial lesion most frequently found on the lower extremities. It shows no sexual predilection and generally develops during middle age, peaking by 50 to 60 years of age. It presents as an asymptomatic erythematous rounded papule or plaque. Its clinical appearance may considerably vary, whereas histological appearance is very typical. It displays a zone of sharply demarcated thickened epidermis with regular psoriasiform hyperplasia composed of enlarged pale keratinocytes. The material that stains with periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) is sensitive, confirming as collagen. The diagnosis is based on the histopathological findings. We report two patients with clear cell acanthoma with literature review. Keywords: Acanthoma; pathologyTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Sci 2008, 28:584-587
