Dr. Tarkan ERGUNa,Dr. Hatice LAKADAMYALİa,Dr. Gökhan ÇAKMAKb
aRadyoloji Bölümü,bOrtopedi ve Travmatoloji Bölümü, Başkent Üniversitesi Alanya Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi, Antalya Pes anserinus tendinobursitis denotes the inflammation of the tibial insertion site of the tendons (common tendon) of sartorius, gracilis and semimembranosus muscles. It generally develops as a result of overuse or direct contusion of the knee joint. Rarely, pes anserinus syndrome was reported in the literature to have developed secondary to a tibial spur, osteoid osteoma or osteochondroma. Osteochondroma represents the most common bone tumor and is usually asymptomatic. The most common symptom related to osteochondroma is a nontender, painless cosmetic deformity related to the slowly enlarging exophytic mass. Additional complications that cause symptoms include osseous deformity, fracture, vascular compromise, neurologic sequelae, overlying bursa formation, malignant transformation and pes anserinus syndrome. This paper describes two cases of pes anserinus syndrome secondary to osteochondroma. In both patients, the diagnosis of osteochondroma was confirmed histopathologically and patients were completely symptom free after treatment. Keywords: Osteochondroma; kneeTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Sci 2008, 28:589-592
