Pulmonary Cavitary Metastases Due To Esophageal Cancer: Original Image
Dr. Şerife ULUSANa
aRadyoloji Bölümü ,Başkent Üniversitesi Adana Eğitim ve Araştırma Merkezi, Adana Neoplastic cavitary lesions are an unusual type of pulmonary metastases. Pulmonary metastatic cavitations are most commonly associated with metastatic squamous cell carcinoma or mucinous carcinoma. To date, few cases of pulmonary metastases originating from head and neck, colon cancer and the cervix of uterus and transitional cell carcinoma of urinary bladder cancer and showing cavitation were reported. Nevertheless, esophageal cancers with multiple cavitary pulmonary metastases have not been previously described in the literature. We report a 48-year-old woman without pulmonary symptoms with a diagnosis of esophageal cancer with multiple cavitary pulmonary metastases. Numerous thick-walled cavitary lesions throughout both lung fields were demonstrated on chest computed tomography (CT) scans. Keywords: Coin lesion, pulmonary; lung neoplasms; radiography; tomography, spiral computedTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Sci 2008, 28:593-595
